Tucson, Arizona (July 28th, 2010) –While the whole country attempts to beat the cold weather, the Nations best open wheel Modified drivers will migrate south to the warmer climates of Tucson’s USA Raceway for a $15,000 battle of racing supremacy. Race fans now have the opportunity indulge in one of the hottest events of the year as tickets are now on sale for The 6th Annual Barnett Harley Davidson Wes Hurst Memorial.

 

The Wes Hurst Memorial which takes place on the weekend following Thanksgiving enters it 6th year and continues to grow gaining the attention of the entire racing community including NASCAR stars and NFL Pro Bowlers.  Nearly 100 drivers from across America and Canada will be expected to take part in what will be one of the most anticipated Modified events of 2010 and will feature the Nations top Modified teams all gunning for one of the richest modified payouts in the country.

 

The best of the best will tackle USA Raceway's 3/8-mile clay oval for three days on November 26th, 27th and 28th, with nearly $100,000 in prize money to be distributed over the course of the blockbuster event.  An unprecedented $15,000 top prize awaits the eventual winner as that name will be added to past champions that include Christy Georges, Richie Tosh, Tommy Weider, Terry Phillips and 2009 winner Jeremy Payne.

Tucson’s, Jeremy Payne, became the 5th winner of the Wes Hurst Memorial as he beat teammate and past winner Terry Phillips in Sunday’s 2009 finale keeping Phillips from becoming the first repeat winner.

 

Christy Georges became the first winner of the Wes Hurst Memorial in 2005 also marking the richest win by a female driver in the Modified ranks while Richie Tosh from Salado Arkansas added his name to the list of Wes Hurst winners as he won the event in 2006. 

 

Tommy Weider and Terry Phillips also captured the esteemed memorial victory in 2007 and 2008 respectively.  Phillips and teammate Jeremy Payne, defending WHM champion, will likely both return to fight for the crown with hopes of taking home the 15k prize.
